TRIBUTE TO JEFFREY B. SENFT

President/CEO/Founder

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we lost Jeffrey in the Fall of 2023. Jeff left behind a strong, unyielding legacy in S&O Construction Services. In his memory and honor, S&O will continue to provide its expertise and services as a premier mechanical contracting company for the state of New York.

From incorporation in 1987 and for the past 36+ years, S&O Construction Services, Inc. primarily focused its attention towards industrial, commercial and light commercial applications of HVAC, Refrigeration, and Plumbing in new construction, renovation and rehabilitation.

Starting in January 1991, S&O Construction Services, Inc. has bid bonded work as a prime contractor fulfilling Jeff’s vision, mission and values to become more diversified and to utilize S&O’s extensive background in the mechanical contracting field. The ability to bond work has allowed S&O Construction to perform all phases of large scale mechanical contracting for municipalities, NYSOPR&HP, state agencies and federal agencies that require bonding capability.

Since 2001, S&O Construction Services, Inc. has performed many high profile mechanical projects for NYS-OGS, NYC-DEP, various school districts, waste water treatment plants, water treatment plants, towns, municipalities and county work.

Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Syracuse University at Utica College, Utica, New York (May 1976).

After earning his degree, Jeff began his career in construction as a service engineer for Green Fan Company where he was responsible for the start-up, vibration analysis and balancing of large industrial fans throughout the United States. After a brief stint as a sales representative for a well drilling company, he took a job at C.B. Strain and Sons, Inc. where he began his rise from Estimator to Senior Project Manager. During his tenure at C.B. Strain, Jeff successfully managed all phases of HVAC and Plumbing construction and renovation projects. Some of his job sites included: IBM Sterling Forest, Vassar College, various public school districts, colleges, state and federal correctional facilities, as well as psychiatric centers and hospitals; individual projects totaling $1,000,000 – $3,000,000. It was this experience that led Jeff to found and incorporate his own business in 1987.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Planning Board – Town of Pleasant Valley, New York 1986 – 2002

In October 1986, Jeff became a member of the Town of Pleasant Valley Planning Board, appointed Chairman for the calendar years 1995-2002 and Vice Chairman for the calendar years 1990-1994. As a public body, The Town Planning Board is entrusted with planning the future growth of the town in an orderly and responsible manner according to the Master Plan. This appointment afforded Jeff the unique opportunity to combine his strong sense of civic duty with his chosen career and expertise.

ASSOCIATIONS

Jeff was elected President of the Northeast Subcontractors Association (NESCA) for 2003-2004. NESCA is an association of more than 500 subcontractors, specialty contractors and material suppliers serving the construction industry in northeastern New York and the largest subcontractor organization of its kind in the United States.

Jeff also served as the Vice President of the Empire State Subcontractors Association, Inc (ESSA). ESSA is a state association that addresses statewide Subcontractor problems on a unified basis.
